Revamped Intranet Design System for a Multinational Manufacturer
A multinational manufacturer is going through a modernization effort to create a streamlined intranet experience, bringing together multiple service line portals together.
About the Project
To address inconsistencies, I conducted a comprehensive visual audit of the intranet's design patterns using Mural, adhering to Atomic Design System principles. I then revamped the intranet design system with clear hierarchy, usage guidance for components, and change logs. I additionally streamlined the design-to-development workflow by creating an Excel sheet linking audit results directly to Figma components. I partnered closely with tech teams to ensure that they had the right patterns to address in development to rectify drift in the product. I produced a clickable end-to-end prototype representing all up to date design patterns that became the single source of truth for expected view of the launched intranet. As design lead, I continued to provide ongoing support through design reviews and Q&A sessions, ensuring cohesive design patterns in delivered work. These efforts resulted in improved UX consistency, reduced development overhead, and an empowered team equipped with an updated design system and guidelines to ensure future alignment.
